Shoutout to San Antonio

If you currently live in San Antonio, TX, and consume science fiction, fantasy, or horror (whether it be reading it, drawing it, watching it, buying it, or god forbid, even creating it), consider this a roll call. Say hello. If you're feeling especially generous, share a little about what genre things matter to you most, especially if it's of the reading or artwork variety.

Hey John!

I would have to say that an all-encompassing depth of story matters the most to me, especially in sci-fi. Nothing short of epic!

I enjoy the originality of Science Fiction artwork. In stories, I like that I can escape to a world so far from the real world and yet understand the hearts and souls of the charaters portrayed.

Hi, Mayo -- Good to hear from you! :)
Hi, Kathy -- Well-said, and thanks for taking the time.

Although I know my blog gets visited by lots of folks around the world, I sometimes wonder how much of an science fiction/fantasy/horror audience there is here in San Antonio. I guess there are three of us so far. ;)

I found you through the Express-News and I would love to see a Sci-Fi Con here even one that is small.

I am a fan of the space opera especially in the style of Peter Hamilton.

I do think that it would be hard to pull in a lot of the bigger name artists and toy/merchandise vendors but it would be worth the try.

I would be happy even with a real comic book/sci-fi store in the area something like Forbidden Planet in London.

Hey John - Just got back in from a frigid week in Chicago, great food, crappy weather. I would like to see a con here, just casnnot devote a lot of time to making it happen.

...of course count me in John. I think that as a fan of all things scifi/fantasy and art of all kinds- a con here in SA could be good for the fans from all over and local writers, artist and businesses.
